Why these questions

  • What to install and how many (cameras, lights) size most jobs straight from the request.
  • Do you have the devices? tells you whether to price equipment or labour only.
  • Weak or no internet is flagged: you may need to add mesh Wi-Fi before anything works.
  • Brick, stone or concrete walls are flagged: drilling and cable runs take longer.
  • The system they use (Google, Alexa, Apple) lets you bring compatible devices on the first visit.

3Set it up#

  1. In your dashboard, open Business details, choose Smart Home Installation as your industry and save. Your smart home installation form is ready straight away, with the settings below in Settings.
  2. Settings → Form fields: remove things you don't install (for example TV mounting or blinds).
  3. Settings → Prices & tax: add per-device prices and your survey visit, so itemised quotes take seconds.
  4. Settings → Page texts: list the brands you work with, and only registrations you really hold.

Recommended theme: Midnight

A modern, techy look suits smart home and security brands; Minimal works well for a premium, design-led feel.

  • Mention the app setup and handover, so customers know they won't be left to work it out.

What to look at first

  • Full smart home setup and alarm systems are flagged hot: bigger jobs, worth a site survey.
  • Please supply them is flagged: price the equipment as well as the fitting.
  • No internet yet is flagged red: nothing smart works until it's connected.

6Pricing your quote#

Price by device, fitted, plus equipment where you supply it and cable runs for wired work.

  • Cameras, doorbells and locks: a fitted price each, plus the device if you supply it.
  • Lighting and switches: a price per switch or light.
  • Wired systems: add cable runs by length.
  • Full setups: a site survey first, then an itemised quote.

These are ways to think about price, not market prices. Use your own costs and local rates.
