1Overview#

For handymen and home repair services. Customers pick the jobs on their list (assembly, mounting, doors and windows, small plumbing, light fittings, painting, wall repairs, tiling and sealant, small flooring repairs, fences and sheds, gutters, curtains and blinds, or a list of odd jobs), how many jobs there are and roughly how long it will all take, what is being assembled or mounted, the walls, whether you bring the materials, any work high up, when they'd like it done, and the property, with photos of each job.

Why these questions

  • How many jobs and how long it will all take size the visit straight away: half a day, a day or more.
  • Materials and parts tells you whether to price only labor or bring everything.
  • What the walls are made of decides the fixings for TVs, shelves and curtain rails.
  • Light fittings and switches is flagged, so you can check it's simple like-for-like work before you agree to it.
  • This week is flagged hot: those customers book with whoever replies first.

3Set it up#

  1. In your dashboard, open Business details, choose Handyman as your industry and save. Your handyman form is ready straight away, with the settings below in Settings.
  2. Settings → Prices & tax: add your hourly rate, half day, full day and common jobs (TV mounting, assembly).
  3. Form fields: remove jobs you don't take on (for example gutters or electrical).
  4. Settings → Page texts: say whether you have a minimum charge or call-out.

Recommended theme: Classic

Customers with a list of small jobs want something friendly and quick on a phone. Classic is familiar and clear.

5Reading a request#

Each request opens with a quick assessment: colored flags for what matters most in this trade.

  • Time: About a day, More than a day is flagged as a bigger or more valuable job.
  • Jobs: flagged by size (anything above 1 stands out).
  • Includes: Light fittings and switches (like for like) is flagged as needing attention (cost, access or risk).
  • Materials: shown for quick reading.
  • High up: Yes is flagged as needing attention (cost, access or risk).
  • When: This week is flagged as a bigger or more valuable job.
  • Customer is: Tenant is flagged as needing attention (cost, access or risk).
  • Photos: green when every photo tile is filled, amber when only some are.
  • Visit: highlighted when it is today or tomorrow, so you can plan quickly.

What to look at first

  • About a day or more than a day is flagged hot: a bigger booking.
  • Light fittings and switches is flagged: confirm it's like for like, or refer bigger electrical work.
  • High up is flagged: bring the tall ladder, or price for access.
  • Check each job photo for sizes, brands and the wall.

6Pricing your quote#

Price by time for the whole list, plus parts, with set prices for common jobs.

  • Lists of small jobs: an hourly rate, half day or day rate.
  • Common jobs: a set price each (TV mounting, assembly, a door adjustment).
  • Materials: at cost or with a small handling charge, as you prefer.
  • A call-out or minimum charge for single small jobs, if you use one.

These are ways to think about price, not market prices. Use your own costs and local rates.

7Messages to customers#

Your quote message is filled in automatically when you send a quote on WhatsApp. This is the starter template (Settings → Page texts):

Hi {name}, thank you for your request {ref} ({title}). Our price for the jobs is *{amount}*. Reply YES to book a date. {business}

8Get more requests#

  • Ads for "handyman near me" and "TV mounting" pointing to your form.
  • Offer regular customers and landlords a monthly odd-jobs visit.

9Launch checklist#

  • Jobs you don't do removed in Form fields.
  • Hourly, half day and day rates in your price list.
  • Minimum charge or call-out explained on your page.
  • Send one test request from your phone and check it arrives by WhatsApp and email.
