Why these questions

  • Fence length is the base of your price. Customers can draw the line on the map, which is often more accurate than guessing.
  • Height and material set the cost per metre or foot.
  • Gates are priced separately.
  • Ground matters: concrete or slopes take longer to dig and set posts.

3Set it up#

  1. In your dashboard, open Business details, choose Fencing as your industry and save. Your fencing form is ready straight away, with the settings below in Settings.
  2. Settings → Region & photos: choose metres or feet as the distance unit, and set the map start position to your town.
  3. Settings → Region & photos: keep Satellite view on, so customers can see their garden when drawing the line.
  4. Settings → Form fields: remove materials you don't install.

Recommended theme: Professional

A fence is a building job with measurements. Professional's ordered sections and square fields suit it, and the side column keeps your contact details visible.

Make them yours

  • List the materials you install in Why choose us.
  • In the FAQ, explain who agrees the boundary line with the neighbours (usually the customer).

5Reading a request#

Each request opens with a quick assessment: coloured flags for what matters most in this trade.

  • Length: flagged by size (anything above 30 m stands out).
  • Material: Not sure is flagged as needing attention (cost, access or risk).
  • Height: Over 1.8 m (6 ft) is flagged as needing attention (cost, access or risk).
  • Old fence: Yes is flagged as needing attention (cost, access or risk).
  • Ground: Concrete / paving, Sloped is flagged as needing attention (cost, access or risk).
  • Gates: shown for quick reading.
  • Site visit: highlighted when it is today or tomorrow, so you can plan quickly.
  • Location: shows whether the customer set an exact map pin, which makes directions easy.
  • Shared boundary: shown for quick reading.
  • Timeline: As soon as possible is flagged as a bigger or more valuable job.

What to look at first

  • When the customer drew the line, the request shows it on a map: zoom in to check it follows the real boundary.
  • Sloped or concrete ground adds time.
  • Removing an old fence adds labour and disposal.

6Pricing your quote#

Fencing is usually priced per metre or foot by height and material, plus gates and extras.

  • Price per metre/foot for each material and height band.
  • Add each gate at a fixed price.
  • Add for difficult ground and slopes.
  • Add removal and disposal of the old fence.

These are ways to think about price, not market prices. Use your own costs and local rates.
